| Don't Rush the Corner Entrance There’s only one way to make sure you will successfully clip a corner’s apex and accelerate out on the correct line: You must enter the corner at the right speed. Rush the corner entrance and you’ll pay for it with a missed apex and a blown exit, or worse yet, a foray into the dirt on the outside of the turn. Learning to gauge your speed at corner entrances takes practice. One mistake many first-time students make at the school is thinking that they will maximize their speed down the straight by late braking into a corner. Unfortunately, holding off braking until the last second can quickly become overwhelming. The result often generates a panic-stricken response, complete with tensed muscles, target fixation and the inability to make it to the corner’s apex. Slowly work up to
increasing corner entry speed. Controlling your speed and hitting the
corner apex is the only way to guarantee a clean, smooth exit out of the
corner on the correct line.
